Notes to use e-resources

Online databases, online journals and e-books (hereinafter referred to as "e-resources") are protected by copyright laws and international treaties and are provided under contract between Musashino University and the publisher/agent, and their use is limited to members of the University. Although contract details and terms of use differ for each individual service, the following are generally prohibited.

  • Use for purposes other than personal academic research and education
  • Excessive access / Massive downloading#
  • Use data for AI, machine learning and text mining (individual contract required)
  • Redistribution of search results without permission (transferring them via e-mail and/or posting on web sites)
  • Other violation of copyrights and/or intellectual property rights, such as the publication, duplication, translation, modification, resale of search results

Please note that should any of the prohibited acts above be committed, a whole contract might be suspended, and/or legal actions might be taken against the university.
The database list includes some electronic resources that are available free of charge. Even free e-resources claim copyright and terms of use.
Read each "notes to use" "terms and conditions" "User's guide" and use the content legitimately.

# What does "downloading massive amounts of data" define?

  • Batch processing with download support tools
  • Systematic access/downloads
  • Holding down the F5 key (page reload key) continuously (F5 attack)
  • The act of intensively repeating access/downloads, even manually

Using the browser’s tab function to display multiple pages at once may also be considered illegal use, so please refrain from doing.
