Borrowing

To check out library items, apply for borrowing at the circulation desk.

The library has only a single copy of each book. Handle items with care in order not to damage or lose them.

Items for loan

  • The following materials are used in-library only:
    • Rare books
    • Journals
    • Newspapers
    • Reference materials
    • Audiovisual materials
    • CD-ROMs

Borrowing

  • To check out library items, present a valid student ID (faculty/staff ID, library card) at the circulation desk.
  • Let us know at check out when longer book loan needed for practical nursing or educational training.
  • We offer books by mail at user's own round-trip shipping expense to those unable to leave home due to circumstances. Ask for details.

Return

Overdue

  • Borrowing, renewal and reservation privileges are suspended for users who have any overdue item for days it has been kept.

Renewal

  • Library items may be renewed within the renewal limit. Items on reserve cannot be renewed. Users with overdue books or whose borrowing privileges are suspended cannot renew loans.
  • Renew items before the due date online or in person.
    1. Online
      a. Log in My Library 
      b. Click "Musashino University Library" in Materials on loan
      c. Renew materials 
      Confirm if individual due date has renewed.
    2. In person
      Bring the items to the circulation desk and present a valid student ID (faculty/ staff ID, library card).

Reservation ... items on-loan or in another branch

  • When an item is on-loan or in another branch, it may be placed a hold.
    Users whose borrowing privileges have been suspended cannot make reservations.
  • When the item becomes available, a notice will be sent to the registered email address.
    Reservation expires after its holding period with no-show.
  • Reserve
    1. Click "Reserve" in OPAC search result.
      When there are multiple volumes, reserve items you need respectively.
      Log in My Library and choose pick-up library.
    2. Select pick-up library and click "Go to Confirmation window".
      Picking up at the items' holding library is available only when they are on loan.
    3. Submit "Confirm".
    4. Check your request and "Fix the request".
      See your My Library to find its status.

Overnight loan (Reference books only)

Loan period Monday-Thursday 17:00-10:40 the following morning Up to 5 items per user

Saturday Opening-10:40 Monday morning
  • Returning items after the due time for overnight loan will result in the suspension of regular borrowing.
    # Overnight loan is not available during spring, summer, and winter vacations.

Damage or loss

  • Damage or loss of items should be compensated according to the regulation. Notify us before purchacing copies yourself.
