Borrowing

To check out library items, apply for borrowing at the circulation desk.

The library has only a single copy of each book. Handle items with care in order not to damage or lose them.

Items for loan

  • The following materials are used in-library only:
    • Rare books
    • Journals
    • Newspapers
    • Reference materials
    • Audiovisual materials
    • CD-ROMs

Borrowing

  • To check out library items, present a valid student ID (faculty/staff ID, library card) at the circulation desk.
  • Let us know at check out when longer book loan needed for practical nursing or educational training.
  • We offer books by mail at user's own round-trip shipping expense to those unable to leave home due to circumstances. Ask for details.

Return

Overdue

  • Borrowing, renewal and reservation privileges are suspended for users who have any overdue item for days it has been kept.

Renewal

  • Library items may be renewed within the renewal limit. Items on reserve cannot be renewed. Users with overdue books or whose borrowing privileges are suspended cannot renew loans.
  • Renew items before the due date online or in person.

      # Bring the items to the circulation desk and present a valid student ID (faculty/ staff ID, library card).

Reservation ... items on-loan or in another branch

  • When an item is on-loan or in another branch, it may be placed a hold.
    # Users whose borrowing privileges are suspended cannot make reservations.
    # After reservation due date, reservation will be canceled.
  • When the item becomes available, a notice will be sent to the registered email address.
  • Reserve
    1. Click "Request/Print" in OPAC search result.
      # When there are multiple volumes, reserve items you need respectively.
    2. Choose the library to pick items up on "Reserve" page.

      # Only items on-loan can be picked up at the library it belongs to.

      # "Books-by-mail" here is exclusive to grad students in Distance Learning Division. Other users: see Books-by-mail

      # When there are some copies and you need a specific item, choose "Reserve selected copy only".
    3. Log in MyLibrary and submit "OK".
    4. Placing a hold is informed by e-mail. Placing a hold is valid for seven openig days. Pick up the item at the library you chose. After it's pick-up due date, reservation will be automatically cancelled and items will go to the next user or be returned to the shelf.

Overnight loan (Reference books only)

  • Returning items after the due time for overnight loan will result in the suspension of regular borrowing.
    # Overnight loan is not available during spring, summer, and winter vacations.

Damage or loss

  • Damage or loss of items should be compensated according to the regulation. Notify us before purchacing copies yourself. 

Renewal

Renewal is not available when:
       you have at least one overdue item
       the item has been requested by other user
       maximum renewal limit has come
  • Log in MyLibrary and submit "renew" in the borrowing book list and the new due date will be found.
